Dallas County completed the 2015 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region four, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Dallas County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Greenville by a score of 42-15. The Hornets improved in 2015 with their first winning season since 2004. The Hornets won as many games as in any season since 2004. It marked the first time since the 2004 season that the Hornets qualified for the playoffs. The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, the Dallas County football program has struggled with a record of 16-45. Over the past 25 seasons, Dallas County has managed to compile a record of 110-154. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 5A and 261st in the AHSAA. The Hornets are led by head coach Marty Smith who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 9-12 over the past two seasons at Dallas County. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Smith. Coach Smith's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 18-23 (43.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Smith's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Dallas County Hornets will play in Class 5A region three during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Hornets remain in 5A but move from region four over to region three. The Hornets will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season. Running back Clavin Starks returns for his junior season after rushing for 1,321 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore last season. The Hornets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent McAdory on Friday, August 26 at McAdory Stadium. Last year the McAdory Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 6A region four. The Yellow Jackets lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Benjamin Russell by a score of 34-3. Dallas County and McAdory have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 0-6-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2007 with McAdory winning by a score of 35-0. Dallas County returns 5A All-State Senior offensive lineman Paul Daniels. He was named to the second team last season. The Hornets also return Senior defensive back Quincy Parker.
